Subject and Object Pronouns

The Subject Pronouns are: I, you, he, she, it, we, and they.
A subject pronoun may be used as the subject of a sentence. For example:

• Mike can work in another company.
• He can work in another company.

The Object Pronouns are: me, you, him, her, it, us and them.

The object pronouns may be used as direct object of a sentence. For example:

• The staff welcomed the new employee.
• The staff welcomed him.

Exercise:

A. Identify if the words in red are subject (SP) or object (OP) pronouns.

Ex. You will have a great job opportunity soon. (SP)

1. He decided to send an e-mail. ( )

2. The manager didn't tell me about the meeting. ( )

3. I asked her if she liked animals. ( )

4. They said they were going to work overtime. ( )

B. Mark the subject pronouns in green and the object pronouns in blue.

Ex. The fax said, "I invite you to visit our new factory."

5. "When do you usually write the reports?", she asked.

6. "I sometimes write them on Friday morning", he answered.

7. They take on a lot of responsibility.

8. We shouldn't have let it in the office.

9. He has told us that story a hundred times.

10. I don't want them to drop out of the team.
